🔌 Hardware Suggestions
Each section outlines the most common device options and any special compatibility notes. Printers, scanners and computer accessories listed are suggestions and not available for purchase through DaySmart.
⚠️ Please Note:
The DaySmart Pet desktop software is not available for Mac computers. The desktop software requires a Windows PC to install and run, and our Support team does not support alternate Mac setups (Parallels, Boot Camp, etc).

Barcode ScannersUsers are able to use a barcode scanner to scan products at checkout time to save time. These devices are really easy to set up; as long as they are plugged in, they should work as expected. Recommended brands:

If you experience hardware issues, start with these quick checks:
🔄 Restart the device – Turn it off and back on.
🔌 Reconnect cables – Unplug and plug back in to ensure solid connections.
📸 Scanner check – Scan any barcode and confirm values appear.
🖨️ Printer test – Perform a test print to your receipt or sticker printer outside of the software.
💵 Cash drawer check – Ensure the drawer is unlocked and connected to the receipt printer.
🧑🔧 Still not working? – Contact your hardware manufacturer for additional troubleshooting or support.

Are there any processor or hardware limitations to using the program?

If you're using the desktop version of the software, we specifically recommend Intel or AMD processors. Other processors, such as Snapdragon (ARM-based) chips, will not allow the software to run.
This is because the desktop software relies on SQL Server, which does not natively support ARM64 architecture. Snapdragon chips (like the X Elite or X Plus) use ARM architecture, while SQL Server is built for x64 (Intel/AMD) systems.
