Device Requirements

Apple Device Requirements

Tap to Pay on iPhone (TTPOI) requires an iPhone that meets the following criteria:

  • iPhone XS or newer

  • Running the latest version of iOS & DaySmart app for your device.

  • Location services for the DaySmart app must be enabled.

  • Not be on an active phone call while using TTPOI.

  • Be located within Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, or United States (not available in Puerto Rico).

Android Device Requirements

Tap to Pay on Android (TTPOA) requires an Android device that meets the following criteria:

  • Running the latest version of Android (Android 11 or above) and the DaySmart app for your device.

  • Location services for the DaySmart app must be enabled.

  • Uses Google Mobile Services and has the Google Play Store app installed.

  • A stable connection to the internet.

  • Contains functioning NFC antenna and chipset.

  • Isn’t rooted and device bootloader is locked and unchanged.

  • Be located within Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, or United States.

The devices listed below are confirmed to meet the current hardware and minimum OS requirements. Device and operating system requirements might change in the future due to new security requirements.

Card Requirements

Tap to Pay on iPhone: Visa, Mastercard, American Express via a physical contactless card or a NFC-based mobile wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay).

  • Discover is supported in the US only.

  • Interac is supported in Canada only and will only work on transactions up to $250. Transactions higher than $250 will be declined and need to be inserted into a physical terminal to be accepted.

Tap to Pay on Android: Visa, Mastercard, and American Express via a physical contactless card or a NFC-based mobile wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay).

  • Cards that require a PIN are not supported.

How to use Tap to Pay

Note: Tap to pay might not work if you're on a call with the phone you're using

  1. Add a client, and products or services (if necessary) to a ticket either from an existing appointment or by clicking on the shopping cart icon at the top of the Appointment Book screen.

    1. Click Checkout if coming from an existing appointment.

  2. Within the Payment Details step in Checkout, tap Credit Card under Add Payment.

  3. Under Process Card With, tap Tap to Pay on [iPhone/Android] which will be the first item in the list.

    Note: On the very first use of Tap to Pay on iPhone, you will be prompted to link your Apple ID with Tap to Pay on iPhone. Follow the account linking steps to proceed with TTPOI.

  4. You will then be prompted to add a tip, if enabled. Have the customer enter in their desired tip amount.

  5. The Tap to Pay screen will be presented.

    1. For Tap to Pay on iPhone: The customer can either hover their card horizontally, or hold their phone or smartwatch near the front or back of the top of your device as indicated on the screen.

    2. For Tap to Pay on Android: The customer can either hover their card horizontally, or hold their phone or smartwatch near the back of your device in the area indicated on the screen.

  6. After a successful transaction, the phone will chime and display Done.

  7. After the transaction is complete, you will be asked if you would like to E-mail, print, or skip the customer receipt.
